Hands Off: Barrow Reject Approach for Ian Evatt
Ian Evatt has worked wonders at Barrow AFC this season, guiding them to 4th in the National League, just 4 points worse off than leaders Halifax Town. This impressive performance from Barrow has left Ian Evatt a wanted man.
AFC Fylde sacked Dave Challinor on Saturday and wasted no time in approaching their number one target, Ian Evatt. Less than 24 hours after Challinor was relieved of his duties, Barrow rejected an approach for their up and coming manager.

What’s great about this rejection is that Ian Evatt also added to the statement. It was unified. A joint effort and one that will give the club even more momentum under Evatt’s stewardship. The rookie manager has a great pedigree of the Football League, where he hopes to take Barrow.
He played over 500 career games, including over 200 for Blackpool where he was heavily involved in a side that went from League One to the Premier League in 4 years. During their only Premier League campaign, Evatt played in every single game.
Taking a look at the National League form guide, it’s clear to see why Evatt might have suitors both now in and in the future. His Barrow team has won the last 7 games, scoring 2 or more goals in each of those games. The next game for Barrow is away at Torquay United.
Can this impressive run continue for Ian Evatt and his side? Personally, I’m glad that he’s decided to continue with Barrow and resist the money that would come with managing AFC Fylde. He’s building something special at Barrow and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out.
